Welcome to the museum J.C. Roelandse (1888-1978)

Zelfportret JC Roelandse The leiderdorp painter Jan Roelandse lived from 1888 to 1978. His works belong to the so called "Leidse School".
Characteristic for his work is its casual, impressionistic style.
He preferred to wander around "The green heart "of urban Holland. His works give us the impression of "what it was like", in those days. The old farms, windmills, the lanes and alleys, the town views and the boats revive the old times.
That is why his drawings and paintings are not only interesting to those who are engaged in Art history, but surely also to those who are searching for a glimpse of Holland in the past.

Are you in the possession of paintings or drawings of J.C. Roelandse ? Photographs are always welcome. Have you been aquainted to the painter? Would you like to share anecdotes with us? Please mail them!
